200 Years of Frankenstein

This year marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of arguably the first science-fiction novel, Frankenstein, infamously written by Mary Shelley, one of the first celebrated female authors to ever exist. 

Mary Shelley was undoubtably talented, as were her family. She was born into a uniquely gifted family of writers, her father (William Godwin) a radical philosopher, and her mother (Mary Wollstonecraft) a philosopher and advocate for women's rights. 

This website contains the basics for that should enable you to start to understand the complicated and colourful life of the extrodinary family and their revolutionary academic works, as well as their family connection to the Bournemouth area which is still celebrate, testimony to their sicgnificance.
